Emergency Shelter

Wetaskiwin’s emergency shelter is open now until March 1, 2020. Lighthouse Fellowship is operating the emergency shelter, and has set up a Facebook page to keep the community updated.

Location: Civic Building (4904 - 51 Street).
Hours of Operation: 7 pm until 7 am every day (until March 1, 2020).

Project Background

In late 2019, Wetaskiwin City Council allocated up to $65,000 in funding to support a local emergency shelter until March 31, 2020.


The local emergency shelter will be closed by March 1, 2020. The City continues seeking options for a more permanent shelter with adjoining counselling supports.

Emergency Shelter: Local History

The City of Wetaskiwin first opened a temporary emergency shelter from February 2019 until the end of April 2019 thanks to $40,000 in funding from the Government of Alberta Community and Social Services Ministry. This shelter was located at the Wetaskiwin Civic Building (4904 - 51 Street) and was open from 7 pm until 8 am every day.
