Budget Open House The 2019 City of Wetaskiwin Budget Open House took place on Thursday, March 21 from 6 pm until 8 pm at Wetaskiwin City Hall. Members of Council and City staff were on hand to answer budget-related questions.
Budget Planning DeliberationsWetaskiwin City Council scheduled budget deliberations March 14 & 15, 2019 from 8 am until 5 pm in Council Chambers at Wetaskiwin City Hall. This gave staff the opportunity to present their zero-based budgets to City Council for consideration and discussion.

An interim 2019 budget was approved by Wetaskiwin City Council at their regular December 17, 2018 Council meeting.

As stated in the press release, the budget process was mostly delayed due to Council's request that a zero-based budget be presented. Zero-based budgeting is a budgeting process that allocates funding based on program efficiency and necessity rather than budget history. This means building the City's budget from the ground up, which takes time and collaboration.
